NAP completed in March

Work on the NAP Data Center (Neutral Access Point) in the Technological Institute of Renewable Energies (ITER) under the auspices of the Tenerife Cabildo, has resulted in the recruitment of over one hundred local professionals.

Councillor of Economics and Competitiveness, Carlos Alonso, said "Seventy percent of companies participating in the project include a large Canary investment of five million euros which may increase with the outstanding work that still needs to be completed. Expert staff recruited mainly come from the construction industry, one of the sectors hardest hit by the current economic crisis."

NAP is part of project ALiX - turning Tenerife into a hub of a global telecommunications network and the exponential increase in submarine connectivity between the Canary Islands, Africa, Europe and Latin America in the future. ALiX is also intended to serve as a base in Tenerife for Canary and foreign ICT companies to operate in Africa and the rest of the world.
